In 1906, Albert Behne established the first post office in Yellow Pine. In 1930, he platted the original town-site. Yellow Pine historically served as the trade center for the larger Yellow Pine basin mining area, including the Mining District. Known more locally today for its annual Harmonica festival, backcountry snowmobile trips to Warm Lake, and hiking the Frank Church Wilderness area. Currently, in town there is a post office, general store, and corner pub/eatery.
