Acreage

Swenson Butte Ranch consists of 160± acres and is surrounded by public land. Trail Creek Road bisects the property, with 154± acres on the north side of the road and 6± acres on the south. Trail Creek Road leads west from the Big Lost Valley through the rugged Pioneer Mountains to the Sun Valley area. The mountain road receives minimal maintenance and is open during the summer months only.

This property is gently sloped, with elevation ranging from about 6,535± ft on the south side to 6,590± ft at the NW corner.

100± acres are cultivatable and irrigated and is currently used for grazing and producing organic beef.

Irrigated Prime Farm Ground

According to USDA soil reports, the land is considered Prime Farmland if irrigated. The cultivatable acreage is flood irrigated with water delivered by the Bradshaw Ditch, which runs across the north side of the land. Senior priority water rights dated back from 1891.

Two wells provide domestic water and supplement the irrigation.

The remaining acreage consists of native rangeland with Cottonwood trees and Blue Spruce that have been planted around the homesite.

There are two dry cabins on the property, along with an outhouse, and a well/bathhouse and they were constructed about 5 years ago. Additionally, the logs were recycled and restored from an original stage stop that was once located on the property.

Many recreational opportunities abound here! This incredible area offers big game hunting, fishing, hiking, skiing, camping, hot springs, creeks, and rivers.

There is easy access to the Big Lost River, about 1/2 mile south of the property. The Lost River Mountain Range is about 8 miles east and holds Idaho’s tallest peak, Mt. Borah (12,662 ft). The mountain is popular with hikers and climbers, with its elevation climbing 5,000 feet from the trailhead to the summit in less than 5 miles.
